Our Team

John was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, but has called many places home, including North Carolina, Boston, Mexico City, Cincinnati, Dayton, California, Whitesburg, and, currently, Louisville, where he lives with his wife, Natalie. John studied music in college and played in several orchestras professionally before starting his career in non-profits, which has led him on lots of interesting journeys! He has had opportunities to work with several amazing organization, including Appalshop, and has spent most of his career working to use the arts as a tool for strengthening communities. When not at work or playing music with his duo, the Eleventh Hour, you’ll usually find John making boxes and other things out of wood in his wood shop or tending to his role as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Louisville Folk School.
