Food traditions and Thanksgiving go together like turkey and, well, you know. Join local treasures and lifelong East Kentuckians Jenny Williams and Jonathan Piercy for a discussion and live cooking show centered around their family’s Thanksgiving traditions.

Jenny is the Chair of Pathfinders of Perry County, a non-profit citizens’ action group that promotes community well-being, engagement, outdoor recreation and education. Jenny grew up in Hazard, KY and is deeply rooted in the community and region of Eastern Kentucky. She has been teaching writing and reading at Hazard Community and Technical College since 1992.
She co-hosted “What’s Cookin’ Now: The World’s Only LIVE Radio Cooking Show” for six years and is passionate about food and trying to change policies and behaviors so that individuals, regardless of income, age, or geography have access to fresh, healthy, local food and know what to do with it. Jenny co-organizes “A Seat at the Table” which is an ongoing series of community dinners and conversations around various challenges, issues, and policies in the commonwealth state.
Jonathan Piercy is a physician in Hazard, Kentucky. He spends most of his time teaching young doctors and medical students, with special interests in teaching the practice of evidence-based medicine and community medicine.
He grew up in Beattyville and has spent 32 of his 43 years living in the 606 area code.
When he isn’t teaching medicine, he can often be seen with his ukulele performing as Jonathan and his Four-String Fiasco. He has appeared at ukulele festivals and dive bars throughout the US and the UK. He teaches workshops, including one on the Essentials of Funk Ukulele. For six years he was the co-host of What’s Cookin’ Now! on 88.7 WMMT-FM in Whitesburg.
