We continue sharing the latest appointments to our Board of Directors with the introduction of Aurelia Radulescu, an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
Meet Dr. Aurelia Radulescu
Aurelia was born and raised in the beautiful mountain region of Romania. After graduating from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, she emigrated to the United States and continued her Residency Training in Pediatrics at Maimonides Children’s Hospital of Brooklyn in New York City.
In 2006, after living eight years in NYC and four years in Tennessee, she relocated to Kentucky to pursue an academic career opportunity at the University of Kentucky. Her medical career has focused on pediatric obesit –a complex multifactorial disease affecting 23.8% of Kentucky children ages 10 to 17 years.
For the last fourteen years, Dr. Radulescu has served as the Medical Director of the Pediatric BMI clinic, a regional weight management clinic serving children with obesity from Central and Eastern Kentucky. Under her leadership, the clinic has expanded its scope from providing a clinical service to conducting research and teaching medical students and pediatric residents.
In her free time, Aurelia enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and gardening. She resides in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
The Settlement's Foodways program is one of the most important educational programs designed to help Kentuckians adopt healthy dietary habits by combining traditions and resources leading to sustainability. I am passionate about helping children and their families adopt healthy nutritional practices and lifestyles, and I am honored to be a part of this Hindman Settlement School initiative.
