Board Spotlight: Jenny Williams

We are pleased to share that local professor and community leader Jenny Williams has been appointed to Hindman Settlement School’s Board of Directors.

Meet JENNY WILLIAMS

Jenny Williams has been teaching writing and reading at Hazard Community and Technical College since 1992. The youngest of six siblings, all of whom still live in Hazard, Jenny is deeply rooted in the community. She enjoys hiking and being outdoors, and she is the faculty advisor for the HCTC LGBTQ+ Alliance Club. For many years, she co-hosted What’s Cookin’ Now! on WMMT, a live radio cooking show out of Appalshop. What’s Cookin’ Now! transitioned to a podcast as a partnership with Hindman Settlement School, and episodes continue to air on a limited basis. She serves on the board of Pathfinders of Perry County and Pine Mountain Settlement School. She is passionate about equity, food, art, the environment, and education, and believes that these things are irrevocably linked.

I've always loved coming to Hindman Settlement School for literary events, music, and delicious food. We've had so much fun hosting What's Cookin' Now!, a cooking podcast, out of the beautiful kitchen at HSS. And I am so excited that Dumplin's and Dancin' is back! It's an honor to serve this institution and support all the fine work they do with literacy, foodways, traditional arts, amazing literary events, and so much more. I'm looking forward to working more closely with all of the staff to strengthen this important work.
