Untelling

THE OWL SAID

Ashley Bunton

Who do you sing for, blue wing?

Who sings like you, flies like you,

who stands on the wire,

on the line with you?

The birds,

I do not

know their names,

but I like them

winging it

with two arms,

running when

my mother

                      burned

                                    our house down

                                                                    and then built houses

                                                                    for bluebirds

                                                                    in its place.

                                                                    We all

                                                                    flew together

                                                                    like birds on a line.
