Rebecka Fugate was raised in Emmalena, Kentucky right along Troublesome creek, where she still resides. Rebecka brings a wealth of experience to our programming team through her leadership of our Foodways Program, which supports education for children on the importance of eating healthy foods, families in their pursuit of growing and preserving their own foods, and our community through initiatives to increase access while bolstering the local food economy.
Since 2016, Rebecka has been involved in the world of farming on her family farm, a source of Appalachian tradition that provides her family and children with a connection to their roots. Her days are filled with the joys of farming, canning, and crafting nutritious meals for her loved ones. When not on the farm, Rebecka loves reading, crafting, and cherishing every moment spent with her children.
